Ben Nevares became the first powerlifting state champion in his high school's history, set state records in bench, deadlift, and total, and took a world record in the deadlift in 2013. He earned his Team USA spot by winning Nationals before he had graduated, and went on to represent the United States at three international competitions, two of them World Championships, coming home with gold, silver, and bronze across the individual lifts and two second-place finishes overall. By the end of his career he had set 29 state and national records, made Collegiate All-American, and become the fourth person in Texas A&M history to deadlift over 700 pounds.
He studied Sport Conditioning at Texas A&M with minors in coaching and psychology, working in two exercise physiology labs and publishing before he graduated. He earned his master's at East Tennessee State under Dr. Mike Stone, known as the father of periodization, specializing in athlete monitoring, force plate analysis, and building training programs that hold up over years rather than weeks. He later added an MBA from UNLV, and now serves on the Lee Business School Corporate Advisory Board.
Ben Thinking came out of a simple idea: get better at conversation by having a lot of them. What it became is a show about the part nobody posts — the work, the setbacks, and what it actually costs to build something. Ben sits down with clinicians, coaches, business owners, and people willing to talk honestly about the hard parts, most of them from right here in Las Vegas.
When he is not recording, he is training, traveling, eating, and spending time with his dog Boomer.
